Microsoft recently made public that was the victim of a cyberattack perpetrated by the hacking group Nobelium; group affiliated with Russia and which has been the protagonist of other significant cyberattacks such as the one that occurred in 2020 which compromised different agencies of the US government.
On this occasion, the targets of this attack were the email accounts of certain members of the management team of Microsoft
The recent attack was not the result of a vulnerability in Microsoft products or services. To date, there is no evidence that those responsible for this hack were able to access data relating to the company’s customers, production systems, source codes or artificial intelligence systems.
The cyberattack on Microsoft came just days after it announced plans to revamp software security.
In recent months, Azure cloud services have been the victim of a large number of attacks from different hacker groups. For this reason, the Redmond company announced its intention to strengthen its security and be able to defend itself more effectively against future similar attacks, a moment that the famous Nobelium group used to try to access the confidential information of the business.
That’s why Microsoft is making some of the biggest changes in recent history related to how it designs, builds, and tests its new software systems and services.
