earlier this week 343 industries Confirm Halo: Infinite Season 5 is the last full season of the game, but small updates to the game are planned on a regular basis.
As part of a community livestream, 343 Industries announced that Halo Infinite will not have additional seasons after Season 5, instead opting for shorter action-packed episodes, which we debuted with the latest season. During the livestream, senior community manager John Junyszek explained the changes and made it clear that the game will still be supported in 2024. “We are changing the way we develop infinitely into the future,” Junyszek explains.
“for [Master Chief Collection] Gamers this may sound familiar. The gist of it is that we no longer refer to “seasons” – we are moving away from seasons. It’s going to be an exciting year for Halo for us at the studio. We have a dedicated team dedicated to supporting Halo Infinite and continuing to push forward, but equally we have other teams accelerating new projects for the future… There’s a lot going on here. ”
The first operation, launching on January 30, will be themed around the strategy spin-off Halo Wars and will also add several customization options as well as a new app. The way it works is structurally no different than seasons, they’re just much shorter in duration – they only last a few weeks, whereas Halo Infinite seasons typically last a few months. Essentially, it sounds like more frequent mini-seasons. If you miss an action, you can purchase the premium version and access it forever.
It’s unclear what Junyszek means by having more teams working on new projects, but it might not be a battle royale game, as recent reports indicate that the long-rumored spin-off game has been cancelled.
