The space MMO EVE Online has already had a whopping 20 years behind it and now it wants to conquer another platform – the gaming table. With EVE: War for New Eden, a board game implementation is now going live on Kickstarter.
Titan Forge, primarily known for miniature figures, has one in collaboration with CCP Games Kickstarter campaign for EVE: War for New Eden started. This is a board game adaptation of the long-running space MMO EVE Online. Backers can invest in the project on Kickstarter and secure various rewards before the planned release in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Titan Forge had already presented the board game to the wider audience as part of the EVE Online Fanfest and SPIEL 2023 in Essen and, according to its own statements, received a lot of positive feedback there.
For EVE: War for New Eden, the developers have come up with an implementation as a 4X strategy game in which the four factions Caldari, Gallente, Amarr and Minmatar compete against each other. Topics include the exploration of mysterious celestial bodies, the expansion of the territory and technologies of their empire, but also the economy and the procurement of resources.
Much of this ultimately flows into fleet construction, which will include a total of 36 unique ship types with special values and attributes from the MMO. The driving force behind the game is the combat system, which attempts to emulate the original video game’s dynamics between different ship sizes, acquiring targets, and dealing damage.
The Kickstarter campaign is intended to raise additional funds for the development of the project. Depending on the budget achieved, money should also flow into free additional content and other improvements. EVE: War for New Eden will also give fans the opportunity to directly participate in community competitions. Incorporate additional event cards into the game that are based on real history and situations in EVE Online.
The Kickstarter campaign also features Collector’s Packs with large spaceship models to paint and display, as well as a 200% scale game with all components doubled in size for spectacular tabletop battles.
