The Creative Assembly is releasing “High Tide,” a free new update for the strategy game Total War: Pharaoh. This brings with it two playable factions.

Together with publisher SEGA, developer The Creative Assembly today released the “High Tide” update for Total War: Pharaoh; Owners of the main game can secure this for free and get the introduction to the wild culture of the Sea Peoples. As a result, there are two new playable factions including leaders.

The focus is on the fall of the Bronze Age as you play as one of the two new factions from the Sea Peoples culture. While the ruthless Sherden only seek destruction, the Peleset take the warpath to establish a new home. New game mechanics and 37 new units provide a fresh impetus to the game.

The Sea Peoples are warlike hordes of nomads who sail the Mediterranean to exploit the chaos of the Bronze Age Collapse. As the ancient empires of Egypt, Canaan and the Hittites descend into war, they arrive on their troubled shores to fight, ravage and conquer everything in sight. As a Horde faction, the Sea Peoples must stay on the warpath in order to survive. Only through constant conquest can you hold the hordes of Scherden and Peleset together and emerge victorious.

You lead the Scherden horde as Iolaos, who is considered a young and determined explorer. The gameplay focuses on the Spoils of War mechanic to plunder cities for additional resources, build Nuraghe camps, strengthen armies and use the new resource Eminence. There are also several of the new units here, such as the Nuraghe Warriors, who can form an armored turtle-like Kelone formation.

You lead the Peleset as Walwetes, a gigantic patriarch. The faction can set up camps and occupy cities on the campaign map in search of a new home. The new units here include oxcarts, demountable chariots that flank the enemy and Peleset shock troops.
