Psychedelic or just bizarre? Aggro Dr1ft is an action film that you really don’t see every day. And if some of the reactions to Harmony Korine’s latest work are to be believed, not everyone necessarily wants to see it.
What the hell is Aggro D1ft anyway?
Aggro Dr1ft relies on a very specific trick: The entire film is filmed through the lens of a thermal imaging camera. That explains the (obviously) unusual look of the action film.
At the Venice Film Festival in September 2023, this even led to viewers leaving the cinema while the film was still playing. Others applauded for ten minutes – like Variety reported. It’s truly bizarre…
The story of the action film takes place in the criminal underworld of Miami. An experienced contract killer (Jordi Mollà) has his sights set on a new target and goes hunting. Between violence and madness, the 80-minute film escalates into a psychedelic odyssey – just take a look at the official trailer for yourself:

Aggro Dr1ft only runs in strip clubs (for now).
Aggro Dr1ft by director Harmony Korine (Spring Breakers, Gummo) and rapper Travis Scott does not currently have a theatrical release. So far, the film has only been shown at selected events, including in (strip) clubs. It is currently unknown whether Aggro Dr1ft will also end up in Europe cinemas.
Anyone who has seen the film so far has a rather… cautious rating. At Metacritic For example, out of 13 reviews, an average score of 43 points comes together. On Rotten Tomatoes Aggro Dr1ft stands at 28 ratings and 36 percent.

Aggro Dr1ft looks like a video game-style intro to a super-stylish music video – except that it doesn’t just go on for a few seconds, but for 80 minutes. This is certainly fascinating, but also incredibly tiring.
