The good offers are coming at a rapid pace for PC gamers. A new free game is currently available to pick up on the GOG platform.
Free games keep coming for PC gamers. The Epic Games Store continues the distribution of weekly gifts, just like Prime Gaming, which offers its subscribers two productions every week. Steam, in turn, regularly offers to test games over a long weekend, such as This War of Mine. Then there’s GOG, which also offers a small free game during each of its big sales periods to attract the masses.
A new free game on GOG
The New Year’s sale has started. GOG currently sells games by the hundreds, including CD Projekt RED productions. The Witcher 3 Complete Edition is then 75% cheaper, while Cyberpunk 2077 is available at half price. However, what will interest players is the usual small gift that the platform usually offers for each of its important commercial operations. The store is currently offering to pick up a new one for free until Monday, January 28, 2024. There is no need to prolong the excitement, since it is a title relatively unknown to the general public, but which should appeal to gaming enthusiasts from Workshop and Warhammer Universe: Mordheim, City of the Damned.
Like the characters it is inspired by, this free GOG game follows the adventures of small rival armed gangs as they fight to take control of key districts of the City of the Damned after a comet crashes. Everyone is looking for fragments of magical stones that will bring them everything they want: fame and fortune, of course. Like XCOM, from which it is hugely inspired, Mordheim City of the Damned alternates between tactical combat and periods of camp rest used to advance its fighters and make missed shots via dice rolls. A nice title, the production of which was poor even for the time. Almost ten years later, we can’t necessarily say it’s aged well, but a free adaptation of Mordheim can’t be turned down.
There is no secret to getting this free GOG game. All you have to do is go to the Page dedicated to the game, then click the “View Gift” button and then click “Yes, pick up the game”. You will of course need an account on the platform if you haven’t already, and that’s it. Given GOG’s habits, Mordheim City of the Damned will undoubtedly be followed by a second free game.
