Popular modding website Nexus Mods has confirmed that it is not keen on hosting Pokemon-themed mods for Palworld, as it is likely to attract negative attention from Nintendo’s legal department.

“We do think adding Pokemon content to Palworld is a really cool idea, and we understand why people would want something like this,” Nexus Mods community manager Demorphic wrote in a statement posted to the modding website. “However, we are not willing to host this content on Nexus Mods.”

They cited Nintendo’s “record of relentlessly filing legal challenges, DMCAs and takedowns of fan-made content” as the reason behind the decision, saying: “Given Palworld’s similarity to the Pokémon series as a base game, hosting Content that adds copyrighted Pokémon characters or assets into the game will almost certainly put us at risk of legal action.”

Therefore, going forward, any Palworld mods uploaded to Nexus Mods that are judged to feature “Pokémon-derived characters or assets” will be removed.
