We all love a good binge when listening to our favorite shows, but when episodes are automatically released one after the other, it can be too tempting to watch too many.
It’s not obvious how to stop Amazon Prime from releasing another episode of Wheel of Time, Reacher, or The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but here we’ll show you what to do.
And if you’re annoyed by show and movie previews that start automatically when you browse to find what you want to watch, we can help you stop them, too.
How to stop Prime video from autoplaying
Turning off the autoplay feature can be a little tricky at first, as the setting is in different places depending on the device you’re using, and in some cases, not at all. We’ve split the instructions to cover different formats, so you can jump straight to the one you need.

This will only prevent episodes from autoplaying on that specific device, so you’ll need to repeat these steps if you have other phones or tablets.
Additionally, there doesn’t appear to be a setting currently available to prevent previews from playing automatically on mobile apps, but hopefully that will change before too long.

How to Disable Amazon Prime’s Autoplay Feature on Consoles
If you prefer to watch your Amazon Prime content on a PlayStation or Xbox, it’s not difficult to stop the app from automatically playing upcoming episodes and previewing trailers.
- Open the Prime Video app
- In the left column, scroll down and select Settings

How to Disable Amazon Prime Autoplay on Smart TVs
Obviously, with so many different manufacturers making Smart TVs, each with their own interface, we can’t provide a complete overview of each variant. It’s worth noting, however, that the ones we tested didn’t have options to turn off autoplay. Again, this was not exhaustive, as we only have access to a limited number of Smart TVs.
If your particular model supports this feature, we’d say it will probably work the same as it does on consoles, so follow these steps and hopefully you’ll be able to turn off autoplay.
You should now be able to watch whatever you want without being bothered by trailers or the temptation to sneak in an extra episode.
