Diablo 4’s temples are getting some powerful new powers, and when we moon awakening The in-game event begins. As the name suggests, the event celebrates the Chinese New Year.
If you’ve been paying attention, this will be Moon Awakening’s second limited-time event in the game, following the holiday’s Midwinter Blight. However, unlike this, Moon Awakening will be available globally. Both Seasonal and eternal realms.

Moon Awakening will be live for two weeks starting on Tuesday, February 6 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm UK. It ends at the same time on Tuesday, February 20th, which should give you plenty of time to climb all 10 bonus tiers.
Moon Awakening increases the power of temples in Sanctuary, both in the overworld and in dungeons. Once activated, you’ll receive up to 50% XP bonus, 30% movement speed increase, and other bonuses.
This also allows you to earn ancestral favor, which is the currency you will use to purchase event cosmetics. The Lunar Shrine will stand out due to its unique map icon. In the world, you will know them when you see their dragon ornaments.
And, like Midwinter’s Blight, Moon’s Awakening introduces a new NPC to the game, as well as a way to redeem reputation points. His name is Yingyue, the owner of the Lunar Night Market. She has opened a store in Ked Bardu North which will serve as the center of your activities.
The more monsters you kill under the influence of the Moon Temple, the more favor you gain from your ancestors. By spending money at Yingyue’s House, you can get some lunar calendar updated themed rewards. Those who participate in the endgame of Diablo 4 also have a reward worth looking forward to. The Nightmare Dungeon Mark will have a chance to drop during the event, and will have a unique Ancestral Favor Dungeon affix.
This allows you to encounter the Temple of the Moon only in that dungeon, which means more buffs and more rewards. Nightmare Dungeons with this affix will also award 10% additional Glyph XP at the end of the dungeon.Even better news is that you can activate Nightmare Dungeons using Sigils with the Ancestral Favor affix Any time After the event ends, so you don’t have to worry about clearing all of these special nightmare dungeons right after you get the sigil.
Another source of Ancestral Favor are the Whispering Bounties with a special Moon Awakening theme, which serve two functions as they contribute to your Whispering Tree progress and reward event currency.

- Shrine of Artillery – The caster has the opportunity to summon a holy bomb.
- Shockwave Temple – Each explosion summons a cluster bombardment.
- Shrine of Guidance – Chance to increase attack speed and reset cooldown.
- Temple of the Pipe – Summons frequent, powerful, shocking attacks.
- Temple of Greed – Chance to summon Treasure Goblins. While the temple is active, Treasure Goblins can be summoned with 25 kills and 50 kills per second.
- Deadly Temple – There is a chance to instantly execute the monster hit, causing fear to surrounding monsters (excluding bosses and other players).
- Temple of Protection – You reflect all damage taken. Damage reflects level vs level and world level.
Across all ten bonus levels, you can unlock six different moon-themed cosmetics. They range from weapon transmogrifications to mounts, mount trophies, and other items.
