Stone the crows, these people don’t hang around do they?

mario vs. Donkey Kong has yet to be released on Nintendo Switch (though we don’t have long to wait; it’s coming out on February 16, 2024), but it looks like people are already looking to mod the game just based on the public eShop demo.

One particularly intriguing mod caught our eye from user X (ex-Twitter). @nintygametubewho managed to mod the Super Mario 64 character model into the game (thanks, Reimagined gameplay).

It’s a relatively modest mod, all things considered, but impressive nonetheless. It’s one thing to mod a game that’s been out for a while, but successfully modding a demo that’s only been available for a few days is something real.

We recently encountered Mario vs. Donkey Kong and we left feeling pretty optimistic about the upcoming Switch title. We stated: “The original Mario vs. Donkey Kong — and doubly so if you’ve never played it before — is a truly great spin-off that’s been updated here with a bunch of significant changes, new modes, and a modern look-and-feel that should surpass the original from 2004 as the best way to experience this particular piece of Nintendo magic.”
