Samsung announced Galaxy AI as well as the new Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The South Korean company’s new artificial intelligence can translate calls in real time, edit photos with AI and, among other things, perform searches by simply drawing a circle on the image or object that the we want to search. This feature is called “Circle to search” and was developed by Google.
Although Rodea for Search debuted on the Galaxy S24, Google introduced it soon after to its own phones, specifically the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. However, this doesn’t mean that devices from other brands will receive Rodea to search, or at least they won’t do so anytime soon: Samsung has confirmed that this will be the case an exclusive feature of the Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel during the first 9 months of the year.

Confirmation of this temporary exclusivity comes via an official press release from Samsung for the Netherlands. In the press release, the company claims that advance reservations and sales of the Galaxy S24 family are breaking records in the territory, mentioning that one of the most interesting things about the new smartphones is the Galaxy AI and all that this artificial intelligence can do.
One of the most notable features is of course Circle to Search. Regarding the possibility of this feature being available on other devices, Samsung comments:
“Circle to Search” is available on the Google Pixel 8 and Samsung Galaxy S24 families starting January 2024. Circle to Search may be available on third-party Android devices starting October 5, 2024.but there is no active development underway in this regard.
In other words, the company not only confirms the temporary exclusivity of the function, but also mentions that currently are not aware of active developments to cause Rodea to pursue other mobile devices. However, there remains the hope that in the last quarter of the year we will see this Google function reaching more mobile phones.
