A few days ago Microsoft announced the new technical specifications for its next console: Xbox Series X .. Today, the American company has announced its new version of DirectX 12 Ultimate, which is designed to provide a better graphical raytraycing experience on PC (Windows) and Xbox Series X platforms. DirectX 12 Ultimate, according to those from Redmond: "This is the best graphics technology we have ever introduced, creating an unprecedented alignment between PC and Xbox Series X." This software release aims to fix a minimum of new generation graphics features for the next wave of games, which will come after the launch of Xbox Series X. What support will this DirectX 12 Ultimate provide? Well, it will have DirectX Raytracing, variable rate shading (selective level of detail), mesh shaders (dynamic control of geometry) and sampler feedback (which avoids storing unnecessary textures in memory).
To give you an idea, we leave you this AMD video that shows its effects with Raytracing:
In addition, one of the advantages that this software will have will be the acceleration of game performance and loading objects on the screen more quickly. On the other hand, the second objective of DirectX 12 Ultimate is to standardize software development for Windows and Xbox Series X. The Microsoft company ensures that the cycles of API graphics development will be the same on computers and consoles. This would imply that the same methods available on a platform will also be the same and the use of this software will not depend on the different factors of each system.
