More and more rumors are spreading that Microsoft will embark on a new multi-platform strategy.
According to the latest rumors, Microsoft seems to want to announce an official strategy change in the console business this month. Accordingly, the Redmond-based company will pursue a multiplatform strategy and will publish selected games and some of the most popular game brands for the PlayStation and other platforms in the future.
According to further rumors, Starfield will also be announced for PlayStation 5 after the release of the first DLC. Hi-fi Rush is also scheduled to be released for the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch in the first quarter.
Microsoft doesn’t even stop at gaming brands like Gears of War, Forza Horizon, Forza Motorsport and the Master Chief from Halo and will probably also publish these popular brands for PlayStation.
Jez from WindowsCentral also chimed in Spice: “Microsoft has essentially decided that they are not going to make enough money with their current strategy. They want to build healthier margins and better cash flow with Sony’s install base and then use that money to reinvest into growing the Xbox ecosystem.”
When asked if this should only apply to some games or to all Xbox titles, Jez replied:
“Who knows. I’ve heard both ‘some games’ and ‘all games’ from various sources.”
