Supermassive Games recently experienced a major upheaval in the company structure. Both founders have left the developer.
There have been many layoffs within the games industry in recent months. Others leave voluntarily to pursue new things. This is also the case with supermassive games to a certain extent. The two co-founders Pete and Joe Samuels, who founded the studio in 2008, have now handed it over to Robert Henrysson.
Henrysson, who most recently served as CEO of Avalanche Studios, said in a statement that it was an honor and privilege to take on the role of CEO at Supermassive Games Ltd. The two founders, Pete Samuels and Joe Samuels, built an incredible, BAFTA-winning studio that produced games that delighted millions of gamers worldwide.
He also wished them both much success and fun for their next chapter and their well-deserved break.
Pete Samuels stated that he was leaving the company for health reasons. He didn’t make the decision lightly and is proud of what he has built together with Joe Samuels. He expressed his admiration and gratitude to the Supermassive team, while expressing confidence that Robert Henrysson will ably lead Supermassive through the next phase of an incredible journey.
According to a Supermassive statement, Henrysson will lead the company as CEO, but will also continue to serve as chairman of Avalanche and partner at Nordisk.
