Insider Tom Henderson provided some details about this year’s Call of Duty, but also the direction the franchise will take. Needless to say, it will make a lot of noise.
Every year Activision fills its pockets with Call of Duty and its multiplayer. In 2022, the license has allowed it to raise a total of more than $30 billion and it won’t stop there. However, players are still attached to single player campaigns as they are generally considered to be quite good but generally too short. For Call of Duty 2024, Activision had a brilliant idea to solve this problem (or not).
Call of Duty would go open world
This is news that is likely to cause a huge uproar in the community. The very knowledgeable one Tom Henderson
So how will Raven Software attempt to move from the thrill corridor to the open world with Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War? According to Henderson’s sources, unlike COD MW3, the campaign for this 2024 installment would have been rebuilt from the ground up to go in this direction. This means that, unlike its predecessor, it cannot be recycled. The missions would be more similar to what a Far Cry might offer. Specifically, players and their team would navigate open worlds where they can use a whole range of vehicles to traverse them or use a fast travel system to get from one point to another instantly. According to the same sources, this Call of Duty 2024 would continue to maintain some linear missions like the old ones.
Worrying news
Few other details were revealed other than that this more open approach could set the tone for the future of the license. The 2025 episode (internally called Saturn) would follow in the same vein, dividing its maps into different biomes or locations. At least it was like that. opened
Without getting too bogged down, we can say in advance that the new direction that is emerging for the license will not be to everyone’s taste. While Black Ops is known for its quality of writing, this time the campaign has been entrusted to Raven Software, best known for its work in multiplayer and single player modes. Conversely, Treyarch Games, which stands out in this regard, would be responsible for the multiplayer and Zombies mode. Imagine that. Suffice to say, this isn’t a good sign on paper, especially after a very bad Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.
