Henry Cavill won’t be returning to Netflix series The Witcher, but apparently that’s not that big of a deal. The Superman actor is realizing another dream that he is very proud of.
After three seasons that were not always well received by part of the Witcher community, Henry Cavill said goodbye to Geralt of Rivia. The actor decided to leave the Netflix show due to creative differences. And there’s no point in hoping for a surprise return in Season 5. Liam Hemsworth (Hunger Games) will be his successor, and if that’s bad news for some, Cavill is handling it well. The actor is very busy adapting another absolutely iconic license that he loves.
Henry Cavill has found something better than The Witcher
To say that the Netflix series The Witcher has divided people is an understatement. And with the line-up change it won’t get any better. Fans may not accept Liam Hemsworth so easily, while Henry Cavill has actually moved on. The actor who stars in “Argylle,” the new film from Matthew Vaughn (“Kick-Ass,” “Kingsman”) starring Dua Lipa, John Cena and Sam Rockwell, is now thriving in something different. Streaming? Reading The Witcher books in a comfortable armchair? Neither. The actor is more focused on the future Prime Video series Warhammer 40K, which doesn’t have a release date yet.
For him, taking part in such a project is the greatest privilege of his career – sorry The Witcher! “Having this opportunity (Editor’s note: being involved in the Warhammer 40,000 series) is the greatest privilege of my career. I can’t say too much yet, but the ability to bring the universe to the screen and be at the helm to make sure it’s faithful is crucial to me.” (above GamesRadar). Faithful, not like the TV series The Witcher? We can’t help but think about it after everything that has been said about the departure of Cavill, who knew the works of Andrzej Sapkowski like the back of his hand.
“These are the kinds of things I dream about in my free time… and I get to bring them to life. “I entered the industry for these types of projects.” he added. Good salesman or truly sincere person expressing one of his passions? Ultimately, it’s a bit of both.
Superman gives his best in Prime Video’s Warhammer 40K series
We knew Henry Cavill was already a fan of The Witcher, but over time we realized he was addicted to Warhammer. “I spend a lot of time on the computer playing Warhammer 40K.” revealed the actor in 2021 (via First). His passion is the universe as a whole, including the board game with the figures to paint. That’s why we understand why he’s so excited, especially since everything will be different this time. He will of course play the lead role in the Prime Video series, but will also act as co-producer. From then on he enjoys a real right to review the adjustment. And he will therefore be able to ensure the fidelity of the series, unlike Netflix’s The Witcher.
“For 30 years I have dreamed of seeing a live-action adaptation of the Warhammer universe. After 22 years in the industry, I believe I have the skills and experience to bring the Warhammer Cinematic Universe to life. […] To all Warhammer fans, I promise to respect this license that I love. And I’ll do my best to bring you something amazing that has never been seen before. he said further in 2022 Instagram.
