celebrating, Tanks, World, Xbox, Years

World of Tanks reaches the Big Ten! The game has been part of the Xbox free-to-play scene since 2014, bringing you only the best tank battles on the console. It’s safe to say that the game wouldn’t be where it is today if it hadn’t been first released around the time of the Xbox 360.

Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi himself looks back at the Microsoft E3 2013 press conference. “Looking back, it was incredible to be on stage announcing the 2013 Microsoft press conference 10 years ago World of Tanks for Xbox. Wargaming was excited to bring it World of Tanks, the game that was my life, to a platform with millions of players. We pioneered F2P on consoles, offering a new way to play and discover games. This was only possible with the support and trust of our trusted partner Microsoft, with whom we have consistently achieved significant results. It’s been an amazing decade for World of Tanks on Xbox and here are many more!”

Since then, we have worked hard to keep Victor’s vision alive. And Valerie MacCracken, Director of Live Operations, will confirm that it was a great ride. “There weren’t many free-to-play games on the Xbox 360 back then… It felt like uncharted territory.” The hard work would eventually pay off. “The game has evolved tremendously since its release, from just three tank nations to a full tech tree across two game modes, a ton of new features, and more to come this year!”

From the scenes of World War II to the hectic battlefields of the Cold War, we’ve journeyed through history with a roster of rugged vehicles of all shapes, sizes and nations.

As a thank you for ten incredible years of tanks, prepare for a year-long celebration like no other, with monthly giveaways, special events and sales, and the opportunity to earn two end-of-year tanks with the end of the year celebrations Event.
