Hellraiser 2 After what felt like an eternity, it finally arrived this week. The game launched yesterday on PC and PS5, and the launch has been quite successful so far. In fact, this is the largest launch ever for a PC game published by PlayStation.

Of course, Sony Interactive Entertainment created the catchy label “PlayStation PC” to solidify its plans to bring more and more games that were once PlayStation exclusives to PC. These efforts began with Horizon Zero Dawn and continue today.
However, Sony’s biggest game launch to date on PC is God of War. The 2018 reboot quickly became a hit on Steam, with 73,529 concurrent players at launch. Well, thanks to Hellraiser 2, that number isn’t top-tier anymore.
Of course, Helldivers 2 is not a first-party Sony game. The game is developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, but Sony is its publisher for PC and PS5. The third-person cooperative shooter quickly became the most played game on Steam, attracting 81,840 concurrent players at its peak.
In fact, that number continued to grow after yesterday morning’s release, so there’s a chance it could spike even further come the weekend. Of course, you’d be wise not to expect numbers or anything else from Palworld, but this is still a solid release.
However, one has to wonder if it will perform just as well (or better) on PS5, but unless Sony comes out and makes any kind of sales or player count announcement, we’re unlikely to know any specific details.
Hellraiser 2 is otherwise a success, but its only flaw is its Steam review rating. The game currently has an overall rating of Mixed, based on nearly 10,000 reviews at the time of writing. Most of the issues appear to be technical in nature, including crashes, occasional server issues, and general game stability. Hopefully these issues will be resolved soon.
