Rumors about a supposed successor to the Switch continue, and the latest report (which admittedly backs up many of the previous claims) comes from an “exclusive” from Reuters.
According to news agencyNvidia is currently “building a new business unit” that specializes in “designing custom chips” for hardware companies – with its “source” claiming the tech giant has created a “custom design” for Nintendo’s next-gen handheld system.
Here’s a segment on Nintendo in this “exclusive,” which also mentions that new hardware is expected this year:
“Nintendo’s current Switch handheld already includes Nvidia’s Tegra X1 chip. A new version of the Switch console expected this year will likely include Nvidia’s custom design, one source said.”
Nintendo (as you might have already guessed) declined to comment on this latest report, though once again, the Nvidia connections and estimated launch window aren’t a surprise, given previous rumors. This essentially reaffirms existing reports from multiple other outlets.
Last month, Bloomberg also reported that the new Nintendo hardware will ship in 2024, with an analyst suggesting that it will have an 8-inch LCD screen. You can find out all the Switch 2 rumors in our extensive guide here on Nintendo Life:
