Well folks, since Nintendo released their financial results this week, many of us thought that the Direct announcement wouldn’t be too far behind, but alas. Maybe next week.
Anyway, we’ve got word that the Nintendo Switch has now sold over 139 million units, which is simply mind-blowing, while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has crossed the 60 million mark. Nintendo has also confirmed that the Switch will remain its ‘core business’ until 2024, but we’re all still pretty confident that a new console is on the way…
On the other hand, Capcom caused a bit of a stir with its latest consumer survey, possibly gauging interest in dormant franchises. Square Enix has also announced that it’s completely rethinking the way it makes games going forward, so we’ll see how that all turns out.
Without all that, let’s see what we’ll be playing this weekend, shall we?

Through no fault of my own, I stumbled back into mine Layton replaying and polishing the penultimate main game without any thought that it’s almost over. No doubt I’ll be playing more of The Azran Legacy this weekend, although I’m determined to make this one last a bit longer just so the wait for New World of Steam isn’t so eternal.
Luckily, I found a way to stop all productivity in the meantime. I finally gave in and started a free trial of Apple Arcade with the sole intention of playing Pocket Card Jockey on my phone. To the reader, I cannot stress enough how much I want this game on Switch. I still prefer the 3DS controls to single screen gaming, but can Game Freak please start paying attention to my angry letters and put their best game on the hybrid console now? I pray?

I’m still very hooked Persona 3 Reload Right now. I know the demo for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth also recently launched but I have no interest in playing it before the full game comes out.
On Switch, I’m still working my way through Metroid Dread. I’m also hoping that Nintendo also sees fit to bring Zero Mission to NSO along with its 20th anniversary, but we’ll see.

After playing a bit of Inculinati (which my brain keeps wanting to call ‘Inculatini’) for a first impression, I can’t wait to continue into Act 3 and beyond to see how the rest of the game shakes out. Trent is reviewing this game, so I don’t have an air of deadline pushing me to continue, but I definitely want to see in person how the game holds up with more options and on higher difficulties.
Elsewhere, I’ve been playing a bit more Outer Wilds and it has its hooks in me. Want and need combine to make my progress very slow, but the excitement of finding a new text to translate has made my early research a pleasure and I’m eager to continue. (Just not too fast.) I might also go back to Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed after squeezing in a few rounds last weekend after the recent trailer for Frozen Empire. I have to say, that ultra-soft subtitle has a ring to it Terminator: Dark Fate about it, but I enjoyed it Afterlife and — with expectations thoroughly in check — I’m optimistic about the next film.
Have a great time, folks.

Believe it or not, I’m still at it in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. It just keeps getting better and better, I’m not sure I want it to end. Elsewhere I’m afraid I won’t be doing anything but Nintendo 64 videos for the foreseeable future so gaming is taking a back seat. That said I want to jump on Hell Divers 2 as soon as humanly possible and go back to PS3 for some more Ridge Racer 7.
Game of the Week is another great entry I have to work through my backlog: Mad Max. I really wish WB Games would have put this masterpiece on the Switch, but they went with Batman instead. Who knows, maybe an upcoming one Angry the movie gives us a new Mad Max game… a sequel, by any chance? On switch 2? One can dream…
