The release of the remastered Tomb Raider trilogy is imminent. A few hours before release, we are entitled to a preview of a very popular and completely new feature of these games.
Legendary adventurer Lara Croft returns this Wednesday, February 14, 2024 in Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered. If you’re stuck for Valentine’s Day ideas, here’s the perfect gift! As a reminder: This is a compilation that contains the first three cult games of the license, but in versions that have been updated technically and even in terms of gameplay. But there will also be a new addition that will delight all those who like to capture their most beautiful moments.
A feature of Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered is detailed
Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered releases this week for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. A good opportunity to rediscover legendary games, but on more recent machines. Regarding the changes, the portage specialist Aspyr assured that there would be controls “much more fluid”, in addition to improved graphics. But there is also a big new feature in this remastered compilation of Tomb Raider that has never been seen in these titles: photo mode. A highly requested feature by players, which is sometimes only available after release.
What can you expect from Photo Mode in Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered? Different things. Of course, it’s always possible to freeze the action to take a screenshot by rotating the camera and adjusting the depth of field. You can then customize Lara by modifying her clothing (classic outfit, diving suit, etc.) and the weapons she carries (none, dual pistols, Uzis, etc.).
There will also be a choice between 8 facial expressions and six different poses. And… that’s almost all! Yes, unfortunately it won’t be as advanced as in modern games. However, the developers point out that the free camera can also be used to spot the hardest-to-find secrets in Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered.
Two bad news
The photo mode in Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered is excellent news, but other recently released information may disappoint. If you are one of those who don’t want digital games, know that there will be no physical version. “We have not made any announcement regarding a physical release of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered”. A clear no? Maybe it’s because the statement isn’t entirely clear. But don’t count on a boxed edition at launch. We can only hope that a third-party company takes over production in the weeks or months following release.
The other bad news is that there will be no Platinum Trophies for the Tomb Raider trilogy on the PS5, according to Insider Gaming. On the PS4, however, this isn’t a problem; all three can be unlocked after all conditions are met.
