Doom Eternal ships accidentally without Denuvo DRM, making pirate work easier

Bethesda didn't remember to remove the missing Denuvo.EXE from the game package.

Players are waiting anxiously Eternal doom When unlocking, some people noticed something particularly strange in the game files. The installation folder has the usual main .EXE file, but also another file where Denuvo DRM is unchanged.

For some reason, the unmodified files are left in the "original" folder in the downloaded package. As you know, the entire purpose of Denuvo DRM is to prevent piracy at the time of release, but if anyone can access the version for free without DRM, that won't work.

Resetera forum members found oopsie in the Bethesda Launcher version of the game, and the Steam version did not seem to be affected. Shortly after Doom Eternal went live, a patch was released to remove unmodified .EXE files, but it was not released until the Pirates noticed.

This seems to be what Bethesda did before Rage 2 and it forgot to release the DRM-enabled .EXE in the Bethesda Launcher version, which once again made the work of the pirates easier.

Doomsday is released today on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Stadia. The Switch version will be launched in 2020.
