If you have hopes of playing a new God of War, Horizon, Uncharted, Ratchet y Clank or another new installment of any of the most recognized PS5 franchises, we have bad news for you. PlayStation revealed that it will not release new games in any of its most important series during the next fiscal year that begins in March 2024. That means that we will not see titles from these sagas at least until April 2025.
We found out about this thanks to the company’s traditional quarterly financial report. These are always full of interesting facts about the previous months and future plans.
The report – signed by Sony president, COO and CFO Hiroki Totoki – says the following:
«Regarding ‘software’, we will continue to produce high-quality work and develop games as a service. But although there are big projects in development, we do not plan to release titles from any major existing franchises during the next fiscal year.
That doesn’t mean there won’t be new PlayStation Studios games or PS5 exclusives this year. We know that there is a ‘remake’ of Until Dawn in development that should arrive in the coming months. In March, just before the end of the fiscal year, it will be released Rise of The Ronin (except in South Korea).
Sony also expects sales of the PS5 console and profits from ‘first party’ game sales to decline. This is not just because they won’t release a God of Warand Horizon o one The Last of Us this year, but also to the rumors that the new Nintendo console will go on sale.
Don’t let this news worry you, in any case many games will be released for PlayStation 5 throughout 2024 and the first quarter of 2025.
