A new and free update for The Sims 4, EA’s wildly popular life simulation game, has added cosmetic options to the game that allow you to give your Sims vitiligo skin patches and patterns. To celebrate this great new addition, EA has brought along world-famous model Winnie Harlow.
Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease This often causes some areas of a person’s skin to lose their pigmentation. This results in the noticeable, lighter skin patches and patches that often occur in people with vitiligo. The spots can appear anywhere on the body, including the face and hands. While in the past people with this condition were shunned or tre ated poorly, recently attitudes have fortunately changed, making people with vitiligo more accepting. And a new one Sims 4
In a blog post from February 13thEA announced that its latest update for The Sims 4– which is now online – has added a range of vitiligo skin options. What’s impressive is that the developers and artists have added a ton of possible options for players to choose from for different body parts of their digital character, potentially making them match (or at least fairly close to) their own skin patterns.
“When it came to vitiligo The Sims“We knew we wanted to start by providing a range of patterns that have varying degrees of coverage and symmetry,” EA explained in its blog post. “During our investigation, we found that depigmentation may have clear edges and some edges may be darker and more irregular. The affected skin may be completely white, pink, or various shades lighter than the surrounding skin.”
Because vitiligo affects people of all ethnicities and skin types, EA also ensured that the patterns and options work on every available skin tone The Sims 4. The end result is that more people will be able to get a closer look at one of the world’s most popular games, which is great.
To celebrate the release of this update and its new skin options, EA Partnership with Winnie Harlow, a model who suffers from vitiligo. She is also an avid Sims player.
“It’s magical to see The Sims 4 “The team is introducing this new vitiligo feature,” said Harlow. “As a child, I spent a lot of time playing The Sims and I think it’s so nice to be able to portray your true self in the game. This partnership is a powerful statement that encourages players to embrace what makes them unique – both in the game and in real life.”
Here’s an FAQ from EA with even more information about this new update and how its skins options work in the game:
Can I choose the color of my Sim’s vitiligo?
Not quite. Although all patterns contrast strongly with your Sim’s skin, the exact color of the vitiligo spots depends on the shade and tone of your chosen skin color. Changing a warm skin tone to a cool one will reflect the color of vitiligo.
Can I change my Sim’s vitiligo pattern? Or can I add or remove it later?
Yes, you can change, add or remove any Vitiligo pattern by returning to Create-A-Sim and doing so in the Skin Details section.
Can the shape of the sim pattern change depending on the body?
Yes. Skin details partially adjust depending on where you stretch or move your skin or body parts. If you widen a Sim’s nose and they have a Vitiligo spot over it, the spot will also change.
Will vitiligo affect my Sim during gameplay?
No. Like the Birthmark feature, Vitiligo Patterns have no effect on gameplay.
Can vitiligo overlap with other skin details?
Vitiligo can affect all facial and body details except moles. You can also use it for tattoos and body hair.
Why can’t vitiligo overlap with moles?
Vitiligo uses the same technology as moles and therefore works in the same way. You can’t put multiple moles on top of each other and they don’t automatically switch between frames (younger to older, female to male). However, teenagers retain the same skin details for the rest of their lives as long as they use the same frame.
Does vitiligo affect my Sim’s body hair color?
No. We hope to address vitiligo’s ability to affect hair color in the future, but currently vitiligo only affects the skin.
