Honor only launched a book-style foldable phone in January, but that was an older device than you might think.
The Magic V2 was initially revealed in China in July 2023, meaning we had to wait several months for a global launch.
In China, attention is already turning to the next generation, which we expect will be known as Magic V3. And if you’re considering buying a Magic V2, it might be worth waiting until we see what Honor has planned for 2024.
Here’s everything we know so far about the Magic V3.
When will Honor Magic V3 be released?
Naturally, nothing has been revealed regarding a potential release date for the Magic V3 at this point. However, previous models give us a rough idea of what to expect:
If this difficult schedule continues, we expect to see the Magic V3 in China. before the end of 2024
With Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset expected in October or November 2024, Honor may want to delay the launch of the Magic V3 to ensure it no longer uses an outdated chipset.

How much will the Honor Magic V3 cost?
There has been no official word on the price of the Honor Magic V2 at the time of writing. To guide us, we can turn to previous models:
The Magic V2 is priced higher than its predecessor, but still costs less than its main competitors such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 (from $1,799.99/£1,748) and the Google Pixel Fold (from $1,799/£1,749).
It is very difficult to predict how this might change for the next generation. Hopefully, Honor will be able to keep the premium design while making the device more affordable.
What specifications and features will the Honor Magic V3 have?
At this point, not much is known about the Magic V3, but a few rumors have emerged.
According to a post by @FixedFocus on Chinese social media site Weibo, Porsche’s version of a new foldable phone “is now finalized.” It was December 2023, but several months after the launch of Magic V2.
Therefore, as Huawei Central suggests, it is highly likely that the Magic V3 is what is being referred to. This isn’t a huge surpr ise, considering the Magic V2 and Magic 6 both get Porsche Design versions.
The Huawei Central article goes on to say that it expects the phone to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the latest and greatest from Qualcomm at the time of writing. This would be a nice upgrade over the 8 Gen 2 of the Magic V2, although there is a small chance it could jump straight to 8 Gen 4.
Don’t expect any big design changes though. The Magic V2 is already the thinnest and lightest book-style foldable phone you can buy, with premium materials giving it the best design of any foldable phone.

However, I hope Honor has made improvements to the software that will make it feel truly optimized for the internal 7.92-inch display. However, it and the 6.43-inch cover screen already look great, combining high resolution with OLED and a 120Hz refresh rate.
It’s not yet clear whether we’ll see changes to the five cameras – 50Mp main, 50Mp ultra-wide, 20Mp telephoto, 2x 16Mp selfie (at the top of both screens) – which are decent, but not always the most reliable.
Likewise, the 5,000mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging may also remain the same. Expect AI to be heavily involved as well.
That’s everything we know about the Magic V3 so far. We will update this article once new information is revealed.
