The next Tomb Raider game has apparently just made news by revealing an image that has caught players’ attention. Will there be an announcement soon?
Now you have the opportunity to jump into the remaster of the first three Tomb Raider games. If you’ve never had the chance, now is the perfect time to start. The graphics are refined, the handling improved, in short: Aspyr didn’t do things by halves. However, the release of this compilation raised an important question: Where is the next big Lara Croft adventure for Crystal Dynamics to put together? In fact, she may have just shown signs of life.

So, first of all, this may not be an official announcement. We first learned on X (formerly Twitter) that a new Tomb Raider-themed website had just opened its doors. The principle is pretty simple, it brings together all the news related to the franchise, but not only that. It is also the ideal place to find products derived from the license. Regardless, for some this is evidence that the pace has picked up for the rest of the series. And that’s not entirely wrong, as we were treated to a new piece of art from the explorer.
What’s special about the latter is that it comes from Crystal Dynamics, the studio behind the next Tomb Raider title. Therefore, it is quite possible that this is a hint of what to expect, although the design will still undergo some adjustments before the game is released. Anyway, it’s really great at the moment. Now we have to ask ourselves if there is a hidden message behind all this. Will we get a surprise announcement soon? Is the first trailer finally coming? It’s hard to say at the moment, but it smells good.
After that we have to put our expectations into perspective. The latest news says that this Tomb Raider is in a difficult situation on Unreal Engine 5. Keep in mind that dozens of company employees were laid off last year, and it won’t necessarily stop any time soon. Embracer can still bring down the ax, and nothing tells us that the team behind this new game will be spared. However, Crystal Dynamics reiterated that it would not be affected by the comprehensive restructuring. Unfortunately, this can change at any time. Now all that’s left is to keep your fingers crossed.
