Does Avatar 3 already have a phenomenal record in terms of the saga and even most of the films? Not really, according to a statement from James Cameron.
A few months ago, James Cameron and producer Jon Landau realized they couldn’t meet the deadline for Avatar 3. And instead of compromising on quality, it was decided to postpone the film to 2025. If there is no change in the Disney calendar, the next adventure of the Na’vis will hit French cinemas on December 17, 2025. So it’s not the day before yesterday that we’ll have a trailer. Even though we already had dream images for this episode and the upcoming sequels. However, you may already forget this information.
A very special version of Avatar 3 on Disney+?
After the phenomenon Avatar 2, James Cameron and his teams are clearly under pressure. Of course, the next films have to live up to the audience’s expectations and, above all, the director’s ambitions to arouse desire. But it also needs to outperform at the global box office, as the first two installments did. And the filmmaker has already revealed some new features of Avatar 3. After the forest and great waters of Pandora, Cameron will show us a volcanic region populated by the “Ash People”. Sam Worthington (Jake Sully) gives up his role as narrator and Lo’ak, one of his sons, takes over the role.
But last year, an insider suggested that “Avatar 3” could be even more special and even land on Disney+ in a massive 9-hour format. Yes, it’s absolutely huge, but the idea would have been to recut the film to make a limited series. Despite the reputability of the source, it simply doesn’t exist and Cameron has clearly brushed that rumor aside for this installment as well as the next films.
By the way, can I allow myself to deny widespread information? There is no such thing as a nine-hour rough cut of “Avatar 3.” I would shoot myself in the head if I made a rough cut of that length. What I said was that I had nine hours of footage, excluding Avatar 3, 4 and 5. So basically three hours per film. And that became “There’s a nine-hour montage,” do you realize that?

So a big misunderstanding. James Cameron will have enough to do with his various films, especially since he doesn’t rule out Avatar 6 & 7. But maybe with another talent behind the camera. Wait, look!
