Our Verdict
For those who have multiple hard floors at home, the Tineco Floor One S5 Extreme Smart Cordless Vacuum and Mop will save you time. It’s great for infrequent maintenance and spills, and its self-cleaning feature is awesome. However, it has the same flaws as most hard floor cleaners, such as an inability to clean edge to edge or tackle stuck-on messes, as well as a layer of technology that doesn’t add much to the overall effect. ‘together.
The growing popularity of hard flooring inevitably raises the question of how to keep it looking spotless.
Part of a new generation of hard floor cleaners, the Tineco Floor One S5 Extreme Smart Cordless Vacuum and Mop offers something many don’t: vacuum up dust and debris while mopping, as well as voice guidance to tell you which mode it is in or in. must be filled or emptied.
However, it is the self-cleaning function that will appeal the most: the rinsing of the dirty canals inside as well as its brush roll, to start each session with a perfectly clean machine.
Design and build
- Battery life of 35 minutes
- Heavy at 4.5 kg/10 lb
- Digital display
Aesthetically, the Floor One S5 Extreme Smart Cordless Vacuum and Mop seeks to be sleek where other hard floor cleaners may be more utilitarian. Rather than bright colors, it’s finished in glossy gray and dark blue plastic, is slim, with few buttons and frills and a digital display.
Despite its neat appearance (H110 x W27.5 x D25cm), it can be heavy to push or carry to another floor if necessary, as it weighs 4.5kg before adding a tank of cleaning solution.
While its trio of buttons are on the handle (self-clean, on/off, and mode), the digital display is on the top of the vacuum’s body. It’s not the easiest to decipher at first. A long bar indicates how much suction power the machine is using, but could easily be confused with remaining battery power.
Battery power is actually shown by most of the screen, as a percentage in numbers, which seems like a lot of space for something you probably don’t need to know most of the time. time while cleaning: In automatic mode, you can clean for about 35 minutes on a full charge.
One of its notable features is a light ring around the edge of the screen. It changes color from blue to red (or vice versa when cleaning with water only) when the machine has detected dirt and is working particularly hard.

Performance and Features
- Cleans with cleaning solution or plain water
- No steam cleaning
- Helpful voice guidance to let you know which mode you are in
Unlike some hard floor cleaners, the Floor One S5 Extreme Smart Cordless Vacuum and Mop offers choice in how you clean your floors. There are three modes: vacuum only for spills or drying wet floors, auto, which increases power when it finds dirt, and max, which provides full power (but reduces run time to 28 minutes , letting you charge 4-5 hours for full).
You can also alternate between cleaning your floors with the cleaning solution provided or with plain water – although it’s unclear how hygienic it is as it doesn’t use steam.
Its instructions could benefit from a quick start guide. For example, they tend to abbreviate (CWT for clean water tank), can be overwhelmed with information, and tend not to work in the correct order to set up the cleaner. We found that it was easier to become familiar with the machine while using it.
The clean water tank is at the rear; Unlike the dirty water tank, there is no handle once removed from the cleaner. If there are drips on the side, the tank is slippery and likely to fall when you try to put it in place. It is also quite high: those with low taps will have difficulty filling it directly and will have to decant the water with a carafe (not supplied).

There is also a disparity between tank sizes: while clean water is 800 ml, dirty water is only 700 ml. In practice, we found that when cleaning wet dirt, the dirty tank had to be emptied while the clean tank was still half full. In a few days we filled the clean tank twice and emptied the dirty tank three and a half times.

Although it seems nifty at first, voice guidance could prove useful. Rather than squinting at the little icons on the digital screen, the cleaner will tell you which mode you’ve selected. However, some prompts are difficult to hear when cleaning in more powerful modes.
For example, we had trouble hearing clearly what he was saying when he told us the dirty water tank needed to be emptied or the clean tank needed to be refilled – until we stopped the cleaning. He also talks about his self-cleaning mode without a clear goal. For those who don’t like voice prompts, they can be turned off.
User-friendliness aside, it cleans fresh spills well. We tested it with brown gravy, seeded jam and mustard on hard ground. Although it tended to smear them as it went over the patches, the auto and maximum modes left visible edges where the brushroll had cleaned.
We had less success with dried messes – several passes didn’t lift them. This suggests that the Floor One S5 Extreme Smart Cordless Vacuum and Mop is better for regular cleaning than periodic cleanings.

In terms of suctioning debris, the device generally worked well: dust and small particles of mud were picked up. However, he struggled with animal hair, which threw damp clumps onto the floor, as well as long hairs: these often got tangled on the way to the dirty water tank and had to be untangled from the rotating brush or hoses.
The Floor One S5 Extreme Smart Cordless Vacuum and Mop is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing it to connect to an app, but this offers little benefit at the moment. In addition to showing you the same information you can see on the machine’s screen and being able to change modes while you clean, there is a report on how often and for how long you use it to clean .
Much better is the Floor One S5 Extreme’s self-cleaning mode, which uses the charging base to rinse itself. You’ll still need to clear debris from the dirty water tank if you empty the sink, but the included tool brush comes in handy. Also included are replacement brush rolls and holder, as well as a replacement dry filter and holder.

There are several S5 models available, so make sure you choose the right one.
Should you buy the Tineco Floor One S5 Extreme?
The Tineco Floor One S5 Extreme Smart Cordless Vacuum and Mop excels in many areas: it’s convenient, eliminates the need to vacuum before cleaning a hard floor, cleans itself, and the voice guidance could really be Useful if you have poor eyesight or don’t want to keep looking at the screen.
And while it will be more convenient for those with multiple hard floors, even those with a couple can benefit from it. However, there is room for improvement: a larger dirty water tank, a handle for clean water, a more useful screen, and an app with a tangible benefit would justify its price to some extent.
