Sony has released an update on PS5 backward compatibility, stating that most PS4 titles will play on the new system.
According to Sony, the team behind PS5 A "huge effort" has been made to enable PS4 users to play their favorite games on upcoming consoles.
The company said that "most of the more than 4,000 PS4 games will be playable."
"We hope that backward-compatible subtitles will run more frequently on PS5 so that they can benefit from higher or more stable frame rates and possibly higher resolutions," wrote a post on the PS blog.
"We are currently evaluating the game title by title to identify any issues that require adjustments by the original software developer."
Earlier this week, Mark Cerny said in his PS5 presentation that the 100 most popular PS4 games will be backwards compatible. Sony has tested hundreds of games and is "ready to test thousands" in the direction of release.
The PS5 is scheduled for holiday release in 2020.
