Elden Ring DLC: This is where Shadow of the Earthtree starts

The expansion (“DLC”) Shadow of the Erdtree will be released for Elden Ring on June 21, 2024. Bandai Namco has already presented various new opponents in a trailer.

In an interview with IGN Hidetaka Miyazaki, President of FromSoftware, gave insights into the future of Elden Ring. Among other things, he also revealed how you can enter the Land of Shadows (DLC area).

Start of the expansion

In contrast to the usual approach with expansions, you do not access the DLC area via the main menu. Instead, there is a location in Elden Ring through which you can enter the expansion.

This is the boss arena of Mohg, the Lord of Blood. But you probably have to defeat this first before you can enter the land of shadows.

Background story

At the beginning of the trailer you can see a cocoon with an arm hanging out of it. This could be Miquella, the brother of the goddess Malenia. He probably traveled to the Land of Shadows several years before you arrived.

As Miyazaki reports, as a player you are following in his footsteps. This then reveals the motivation and goals that previously brought Miquella to this country.
