The Corona virus completely shakes up the otherwise usual annual calendar in all areas of life and does not stop at the gaming industry. As one of the first events ever, the Game Developers Conference had to be canceled in March – but now there is a new date.

It is still unclear how the global pandemic related to the coronavirus is developing and whether, for example, a vaccine can be found. While curfews will apply in Bavaria from tonight on, among other things, the organizers of the Game Developers Conference are apparently looking much more optimistically into the future.
While it is far from clear in many respects whether and how things will continue at all, the organizers of the GDC have now announced a new date for the game event that was canceled in March. Accordingly, the GDC is now supposed to take place as a GDC Summer from 4th to 6th August 2020; The setting will be the Moscone Center in San Francisco, as would have been the case in March.
If everything had gone smoothly, we would have been able to look forward to all kinds of announcements from the gaming industry and interesting talks in the past week. For known reasons, however, the whole thing fell into the water and it is to be hoped that the new appointment in August will not catch up with the makers at some point – depending on how the situation around Covid-19 develops.
It will also be exciting to see what content will be presented in the context of the actual orientation during the GDC Summer. Finally, some of the planned panels were now held online. The GDC Awards 2020 have also been awarded.
