The Chromecast is one of Google’s most useful and different devices in its catalog. It has evolved a lot over the years and has long allowed users in Europe to give a second life to their conventional televisions, or even improve the experience offered by the operating system supplied with many televisions. Although, lately, some users ads are found which the device did not show before.
Its latest high-end version, the Chromecast with Google TV, also included this version of the company’s TV layer, as well as many of the benefits of owning the software. Now, the American company has updated this device, including some new features.
On the one hand, it commits to improvements in connectivity and security, as well as some changes in the menus that allow it to have certain mechanics also present on mobile phones and tablets, such as the possibility of ‘use quick settings.
What’s new in Chromecast
The Chromecast 4K with Google TV has been updated to a new software version, specifically the STTE.231215.005, which weighs 169 MB and has the latest Android security patch to ensure that the device is protected against external threats. But not all news is invisible.
And one of the changes was seen in the design and connectivity, as a quick settings menu was included along with a new “Audio Out” switch. With this, you can choose whether you want to stream TV sound through external speakers or even through headphones so as not to disturb those nearby. There are also quick settings for accessibility, WiFi, Bluetooth, and to enable battery saver mode.
Another new feature that the Chromecast 4K with Google TV already has is Fast Pair, as noted 9to5Google. It is a connectivity protocol that helps establish a quick connection between the sending device and the receiver. Thanks to this, when you open, for example, headphones, the TV will quickly detect them and ask you on the screen if you want to pair them with the Chromecast, making the process much faster.
This update, at the moment, only reaches certain users, so it seems that it will be done in stages. To check for pending updates on the device, simply go to Settings, click System, then About, and once there, click System Update.
