February was a big month for Google’s virtual assistant. The company launched Gemini (not to be confused with Google’s AI model, also called Gemini), replacing Google Assistantwhich has new capabilities based on artificial intelligence.
However, Gemini still can’t do everything Assistant can do on Android phones, but it’s gradually gaining growing integration into mobile devices with this operating system and, in general, with the rest of Google applications. Gemini recently came to the Messages app to help us create messages and create images. Gemini will now also work with Google Calendar.
Gemini, tell me what meetings and events I have tomorrow
The application, or rather the renewed Google virtual assistant you can now interact with the calendar, just like the Assistant could do. This means that Gemini can look at the calendar, tell us specifically which events we have scheduled for the date we indicate, or even help us create a new event using our voice (or keyboard).
Until now, if you asked Gemini something like “what is my next calendar event?” the app simply responded saying it didn’t have access to the Google calendar app. “I’m still learning how to do this,” says the virtual assistant, like a student who still has a lot to learn.
But that has changed. By asking Gemini about your next meeting or event on your calendar, It can respond to you by displaying it on the screen, and it will even say it to you out loud.the same way the Assistant could do it.
Gemini You can also create calendar events via voice or text commands. For example, when you tell the virtual assistant to “create a calendar event for March 10,” the app will open a window where you can add a title for the event, the time it starts, and its date. duration. This can be done using your voice or by typing.
Of course, for now, this feature is reaching certain users in certain territories first. During our testing, at the time of writing, we were unable to access the function. Google usually releases its new features gradually in all territories. In other words, Gemini Calendar integration will gradually reach more users and more countries in the coming days and weeks.
Gemini also recently implemented another very useful feature: the ability to create reminders using your voice. The new Gemini continues to regain features lost in the transition from Assistant to the new virtual assistant, and the next step will be the calendar.
