With Rise of the Ronin, a mix of Ghost of Tsushima and Nioh, Team Ninja wants to offer a different journey. However, they do not forego this highly valued functionality.
The next PS5 exclusive game in the land of samurai called “Rise of the Ronin” has just revealed its surprising gameplay. As a reminder, this is a production from Team Ninja, better known for Nioh or Where Long Fallen Dynasty. The software immerses us in a medieval Japan ravaged by the Boshin War, sometimes referred to as “the Japanese Revolution.” If the studio fully embraces its inspirations from Ghost of Tsushima, the developers intend to keep the systems that made them famous, as we can learn here FAQ. The proof: This cult feature is back!
Rise of the Ronin: a different journey but with friends
With Rise of the Ronin, Team Ninja will make a 180-degree turn, even if it means a departure from the gaming experiences previously offered. For the first time, the developers will offer a completely open world. To travel through war-torn Japan, fans are entitled to various accessories. For example, there is a grappling hook or even a glider to overcome hilly areas. In one of the trailers we see cities, large green spaces and some mountains. That’s quite a far cry from the work the studio has already done. By then he had chosen to focus on gameplay and combat rather than exploration. “Above all, we try to focus on what we think we do best, which is mission-based games. Where the intensity makes you fight hard”the studio explained during an interview with VGC.
Rise of the Ronin will be very different from previous Team Ninja games. However, he intends to retain an important element of gameplay: multiplayer. The information is very concise: “Players can team up with up to three other players to experience the title’s main missions in online co-op mode.”, we can read on the PlayStation Blog. However, it should be noted that a PlayStation Plus subscription is required and “that there is no PVP battle”.
Of course, this feature doesn’t stop you from experiencing the game alone. In any case, our hero is accompanied by historical figures. The loyalty system even allows you to carry out missions for the various shoguns. This promises a lot of content and epic battles. Especially since the release date of Rise of the Ronin is getting closer and closer: exclusively on PS5 on March 22nd.
