- Notice: This post contains spoilers from Expeditions: A MudRunner Game
You may like it more or less, but Breaking Bad It is one of the most notable series in history and can easily sit alongside legends like Game of Thrones. It is not strange that there are references in movies, series and even video games. Although we admit that we were surprised to find one in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game.
The location of Grand Canyon in Arizona hides an expedition whose name surely attracts the attention of most players: Breaking Bad. It’s not very subtle and you don’t have to go too far to unlock its access. We might think that this is a minor reference, but just read the description to realize that the developers are fans of the series.
Yesterday, biologist Brad Cook took a mobile laboratory into the desert without warning. He worries us that he took… undesirable substances and got lost. Authorities say not enough time has passed to report him missing, so we need your team to rescue him.
Four lines of description were enough for Saber Interactive to make [numero] references to different aspects and moments of the series.
- Brad Cook: the last name is a reference to Jesse Pinkman’s nickname, Cap’n Cook, and what they call creating methamphetamine in the series, cooking.
- Brad is a scientist, just like Walter White. Although he would have been a better chemist, a biologist fits more with the theme of Expeditions.
- The undesirable substances clearly allude to Blue Crystal, Walter White’s 99.1% pure methamphetamine.
- Disappearance: Brad’s disappearance is a clear reference to when Walter White disappears (he fakes it) and the authorities do not start looking for him immediately because the minimum time for it has not passed.
Surely you are thinking that we have forgotten a reference: the mobile laboratory. We have not forgotten, but she is not on the list because she is the main protagonist of this tribute by Expeditions. Needless to say, this is the camper Walter and Jesse use to cook meth in the desert. And what do you think we found when we reached the last step of the expedition?
There it is, that ’86 Fleetwood Bounder camper that made us lose our minds during Season 1 of Breaking Bad. Saber Interactive has recreated every detail: the chairs that Walter and Jesse used, the barrels and the caravan itself, including the bullet holes covered by sheet metal and the curtains. The only thing missing is the smoke coming out of the ceiling.
