The series of postponements for Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown doesn’t seem to have an end yet. Once again, no specific date was given for Nacon Connect.
Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown was actually supposed to appear in autumn 2022, but has been postponed several times and the most recently indicated release period of “early 2024” seems to have fallen through again. Even at Nacon Connect, the developers were unable to comment specifically on the topic, but they gave reasons for this Statement on Steam
It specifically says: “We also know that you want a start date, and we understand your eagerness. We share your excitement. Although a start date has already been considered several times, we want to take the time necessary to ensure that yours Your experience with Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown will be as smooth, stable and fun as possible. Many of you have already told us that we should take the time to release a game that meets your expectations. That’s why we are working hard various aspects, including server infrastructure stability and game performance optimization. When we feel that these two areas are stable, we look forward to sharing the long-awaited launch date with you, then crossing the finish line and our long to begin an adventure together.”
To ensure this, further test phases and a closed playtest 3 will take place shortly, which doesn’t exactly sound like a release is to be expected any time soon. At least the first quarter of 2024, as rumored in an earlier financial report, is likely to collapse in any case.
As a consolation, there is a new trailer that focuses on exploration in the game. The description says: “From beaches to forests to mountains, Hong Kong Island has as many different landscapes to explore as there are treasures to find. Alone or with friends, you can search for almost 300 items (collectibles), including rewards such as Solar Coins, Renown, Clan Influence, and special items. You should also pay attention to the Wreckage Radar, which will alert you when a salvageable car part is nearby.”
