FF7 Rebirth, the sequel to the remake, gives everyone a huge slap in the face, but of course that doesn’t stop the game from suffering from some problems.
Have you had time for an adventure in FF7 Rebirth? If you haven’t already, we have a question for you: what are you waiting for? Jokes aside, we really invite you to take part in Square Enix’s incredible epic. The sequel to the 2020 remake lives up to all expectations and the feedback is visibly positive. But is the game perfect? For example in terms of graphics? A certain media outlet has addressed the issue and raised some negative points.
FF7 Rebirth, a real feast for the eyes?
It is the Digital Foundry team that provides us with their expertise on the subject of FF7 Rebirth. In general, we agree that the new work is a big graphic slap in the face. The art direction is impeccable and the visual identity is clearly defined. There isn’t really much to complain about on these points and the members of the DF definitely agree on this. On the other hand, in their opinion, the problem lies at the technical level. “Unfortunately, there are some areas in which Rebirth is still treading water compared to its predecessor from four years ago – and in some areas we have even seen a step backwards.”.
So what exactly is criticized about the remake? Digital Foundry mentions light management issues, with blurry shadows, which the 2020 remake was actually spared from. Another main problem mentioned is the textures, which are sometimes of poor quality. “FF7 Remake had a lot of texture issues on the PS4 version, but Intergrade on PS5 mostly fixed these issues. However, Rebirth has a strange mix of low and high resolution assets..
Afterwards, Digital Foundry states that FF7 Rebirth runs well on PS5. At least when it comes to frame rate. Resolution mode (or graphics mode) offers a stable 30 fps with beautiful dynamic 4K. In performance mode, 60 fps is also constant, but the dynamic resolution remains at an average of 1152p. Therefore, it may be a bit blurry, which is not particularly pleasant to look at. Still, we stay in the realm of details and overall the game is lush. Now it’s up to you to find out!
