Jonathan Nolan, executive producer of Amazon’s upcoming Stand out TV show, is pretty confident that the series will do the games justice. Furthermore, he seems to believe that the series is a continuation of the games, if not a direct sequel. In a recent interview with Total filmNolan says it’s “almost like us Fallout 5.” Those are big expectations to have for the show ahead of its release on April 12th.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard is also involved in this canonical entry in the Fallout universe, but don’t expect all of your favorite locations and characters to show up. This is, after all, an original story and the team was given free rein to come up with something new. As Nolan puts it: “Each of the games is a standalone story – a different city, a separate protagonist – within the same mythology. Our series stands in relation to the games, just as the games stand in relation to each other.” SoNolan sees that at Stand out Universe as an anthology of stories dealing with the same themes, rather than as direct sequels. He expands on this idea by comparing it to his work on the topic Dark Knight Trilogy of films directed by his brother Christopher Nolan Stand outHow BatmanThere is “no canonical version of this, so you are free to make up your own.”

Co-showrunner Graham Wagner also spoke about the new pressure Stand out Faces of the series after the success of HBO’s The last of us, which showed many viewers that you can actually make good video game adaptations. “In a perverse way, I wish there was more snobbery so we could have been first!” he shared Total film. The series, in which, among others, Ella Purnnell (Yellow jackets), Walton Goggins (The Righteous Gems)and Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks) is set to broadcast Prime Video on April 12th.
