Elden Ring fans believe Miyazaki may have been teasing the setting of Shadow of the Erdtree as early as 2021 during network testing

Ever since the first trailer for Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion was released last month, FromSoft’s Legend Detective has naturally had a lot of speculation about what exactly it would contain. The latest mystery some people have been looking into involves the setting of the DLC, and whether an earlier version of Limgrave might have referenced it.

Given that some of these ER experts are no doubt digging deep into the base game in the vague hope that they can somehow unearth the apparently yet-to-be-discovered secrets that Miyazaki claims to still have to offer, seeing as they’re also looking at potential DLC ie. Not surprisingly teased and hinted at. After all, we still have a lot of time to kill until we have to spend an entire day repeatedly slaughtering Mog.

A recent question for renowned Elden Ring data miner and clip restorer Sekiro Dubi is that early in the game’s life cycle, its developers might start hinting at Shadow of the Erdtree’s lore — —The aptly named “Land of the Erdtree.” shadow? The key fact that sparked discussions in this direction was the discovery of a possible connection between the Shadowlands and a name mentioned in the description of the Limgrave region in earlier versions of the game.

The name, “The demesne of Tenebrae,” looks like it roughly translates to something like “The Dark Realm,” which – besides being the name of my next metal band – sounds thematically relevant to where we are places are very similar. We will head to the Shadow of the Big Tree. So it doesn’t appear that these mentions of alternate names are a strange mistake or cut, as was previously theorized. There are hints that Miyazaki and the ER team are already considering an area similar to Shadowlands Dating back to the time of the game’s launch and 2021 network testing.

They don’t look like they’ve found much in this area, but one of them does look a lot like actor Mads Mikkelsen, which is cool.
