While beginners can currently enjoy the beta for Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox, there is now a final release date for the online role-playing game.

The open beta of Final Fantasy XIV has been running on Xbox consoles for a few weeks now and it is now clear when you can officially get started. At Microsoft’s Partner Preview Event it was confirmed in the evening that March 21st has now been set as the official release date.

At the launch of the game there will also be a Starter Edition of the game, which can be accessed via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate between March 21st and April 19th. The extended free trial version will also be available. This means that you can play through the base game A Realm Reborn as well as the first two expansions Heavensward and Stormblood up to level 70 without restrictions.

But there is one catch: While you don’t need a Game Pass for the beta, this doesn’t apply to the full version. To play them, you must have a subscription to Game Pass, Game Pass Ultimate or Xbox Game Pass Core. This is in stark contrast to the PS4 and PS5 versions, which do not require PlayStation Plus.
