The Blue Bomber company unleashes its beasts! The second and last day of the Capcom Highlights 2024 has left us with five announcements that add to last week’s news. And although we already had several of them, the truth is that there were also surprises and joys. Because Akuma’s arrival was predicted (even before his announcement), but the way he entered Street Fighter 6 is devastating.
At iGamesNews we condense all the announcements from the first major Capcom event of 2024 in one place. Gathering all the information about its two days, the short, medium and long-term future plans and each trailer as expected of us. Especially when we are faced with the announcement of several of the key Osaka sagas. Our starting point: the most irascible street fighter in the saga.
Akuma gets into the ring… And destroys it with a punch!
With Ed newly launched, and distributing tow on the streets of Metro City, Street Fighter 6 does not lose steam and advances the final contents for its first season as a game: Akuma, the brutal secret final boss of SSFII Turbo, He comes back wanting to fight.
We still don’t have a date for Akuma, and we already expected it to be ready by the end of spring. Now we have also been able to see in detail its redesign, based on the evolution of the latest installment of the saga, as well as the new game scenario that will arrive with it and that, by the way, will serve as a Dojo in World Tour mode if we accept as disciples.
The way it evolves Street Fighter 6 Through its three game modes it includes the addition of the character in the story mode, with its own missions and context, its arrival in all the classic experiences and, of course, the change of hierarchy that will occur in the Battle Hub once is available.
And it doesn’t end there, since the official Capcom tournaments will begin this year through major events and the Capcom Pro Tour, in which there is a million dollars at stake that will be awarded during the Capcom Cup XI.
These are Monster Hunter’s 20th anniversary plans
Not all sagas can turn 20 in style, and after years of being well-deservedly cult in Japan, the Monster Hunter phenomenon has already spread on a global scale. And now that? For now, next year we will have a new great delivery and Capcom already tells us that it will dedicate an event to it in the coming months. However, in 2024 there will be reasons to enjoy the saga on consoles, PCs and mobile phones.
- On the one hand, Monster Hunter Now, the augmented reality game made by Niantic, will offer events and rewards commemorating the 20th anniversary of the franchise. But it doesn’t end there: a new major update and season are on the horizon, as well as new modes and monsters that will arrive starting March 14.
- In addition, Monster Hunter Stories, the first Monster Hunter RPG updated for current systems, now has an official release date: we can play it June 14 on Switch, PS4 and PC. And if we already have a copy of Monster Hunter Stories 2 we will receive a special outfit.
- Which brings us to the latest announcement: if Monster Hunter Stories 2 was already available on Switch and Steam, PS4 players will not be left without the special content when passing our data: Capcom will launch the two titles of Monster Hunter Stories 2 simultaneously in the PlayStation store.
We are left without news about Monster Hunter Wilds, although also with the promise that a special event about the saga will be held throughout 2024. So it is not at all out of the question that we have new clues and more joys for the epic Action RPG that does not stop growing as a franchise.
Megaman comes to Exoprimal for its fourth season
There are ideas that are so damn good that, even if they are crazy, they cannot be passed up: the fourth season of Exoprimal, the game in which we clean scenarios full of brutalized dinosaurs with robots, adds in a big way to the Capcom mascot and his classic legacy: the legendary Megaman arrives starting April 17!
The third great exchange of own sagas in Exoprimal (the first two were with Street Fighter y Monster Hunter) will allow us to unlock the classic Blue Bomber exosuit, as well as those of other robots in the saga. And it doesn’t end there: the update will add the Yellow Devil himself to the game with a thematic mission.
The news does not end here, since Exoprimal will continue adding new exosuits, components and options to play together, including a new custom game system in which we can invite any player from any platform through a room password system, as well as a long-awaited Player versus Player mode.
The renewed Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective will arrive on mobile phones this month
After passing through PC and consoles, the updated Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective makes its way to mobile devices. What’s more, its launch is almost imminent: the 28th March It can be played on both iOS and Android with a version completely adapted to touch screens. An opportunity to rediscover or get your hands on this ghost and puzzle game by Shu Takumi, none other than the creator of the Ace Attorney franchise.
Our review would only be half done if we did not take into account the other two games that rounded out the event. From the outset, and after returning during the Xbox event, on the first day of the Capcom Highlights 2024 An extensive review of the gameplay and the original playable premise of Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess was shown, which combines elements of strategy and hack’n slash in a mystical Japanese fiefdom.
In addition, Capcom did not waste the opportunity to flex its muscle with Dragon’s Dogma 2, the colossal fantasy, action and adventure RPG that will arrive this month (March 22), showing the main features, pre-order incentives and reminding us that we can now start creating our own characters through an amazing editor.
Capcom has been able to show some of its cards in a year in which it will continue to put all its effort into action. And although the absence of the Resident Evil saga has not gone unnoticed, sooner or later it will have to resume its successful Survival Horror saga. Either with a new remake, or through a long-awaited numbered installment. In both cases, The bar for its part is very high.
