Red alert in the Minecraft community! If you’re not careful, you might lose all your worlds. This means your game could be completely reset and your progress lost. The warning comes directly from the development team at Mojang, fortunately only one version is affected.
Only if you play Minecraft via the Xbox app, there may currently be a loss of all worlds. This means that only the Bedrock version is affected by the problem. If you play Java via the Minecraft launcher, you’re in luck. Otherwise, you should definitely not install the new update.

How to protect your worlds
Be especially careful if the Xbox app is turned on so that Minecraft updates automatically. This could cost you your save game. Mojang already has instructions providedHow you should best proceed to prevent your worlds from disappearing.
You must run the Gaming Service Repair Tool before the update for Minecraft is downloaded. This will update Microsoft’s gaming services to version 19.87.13001.0, meaning the error no longer occurs. This is the best way to do it:
- Launch the Xbox app on the PC.
- Click on your profile picture.
- Click on Support.
- Click on the Gaming Services Repair Tool
- Then click on the green button
Start repair
.
Have you carried out the repairs? you can install the current update without hesitation. All other versions of Minecraft are not affected by this; it only applies if you start the game via the Xbox app. Of course, you can also play it safe and wait until the team gives the all-clear. However, it is not yet possible to predict how long this will take.
