Gaming News Five new worlds, almost 20 bosses… While you wait for the Elden Ring DLC, this huge Dark Souls fan mode will keep you waiting, it’s almost a new game
With only a few months left until the release of the long-awaited Elden Ring DLC, FromSoftware fans can rejoice at the introduction of a new fan-made Dark Souls 3 mode. Offering dense content and overcoming challenges, this experience promises to deliver excellently on expectations.
After 4 years of development Archthrones, the first version of a fan-made Dark Souls 3 mode, is finally available! Originally scheduled for September 2023, it has only been available since March 15, 2024. The reason is simple: the work is carried out by a small team of volunteers who work in each individual’s free time. In order to prepare an experiment without technical problems and without inconsistencies, they had to take more time than expected. To benefit from this you will need the PC version of the title as well as the two DLCs. At the moment it is available for free, only in English.
A mod with disproportionate ambitions!
There was some new content created by fans Dark soulsbut the team“Archthrones would like to propose a project on a completely different level. The game’s design is inspired by the structure of From Software titles such as Elden Ring and Sekiro. The installation requires 12 GB and shows the exaggerated ambition of the project. Here are the key new features it brings:
- 5 brand new worlds
- 17 new bosses
- New characters and side quests
- New mechanics
The game’s story takes place between Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3. Before the countries on Lothric came together, the eponymous prince turned away from the “Fire Bond” and plunged the kingdom into war. To avoid catastrophe, a Guardian of Fire created the Nexus of Embers and received the lords of every major land. Since its inception, the player can travel to the distant kingdoms of each ruler to fight against the dangers that have arisen. The demo currently offers access to the first level of the 5 worlds. Multiplayer features will be added in future updates.
Archthrones is a success, it delights the fans!
Available for a few days, Archthrones already has more than 65,000 downloads. The demo sounds like a liberation in the community, while the DLC of‘Elden Ring : Shadow of the Earth Tree scheduled for June 21st keeps fans waiting:
This seems like an absolute gift for any fan of the Soulsborne series. I enjoyed watching this and experiencing all the nostalgia of seeing these old maps recreated.
The initial feedback is very positive and defines this first version as a complete game. For many, it is also content that perfectly complements the base game. The difficulty encountered delights the experts of the saga. In addition, mechanics borrowed from other games add a new dimension to the gameplay. Unfortunately, the fastest players will have to wait for the next updates to benefit from full mode.
