Google’s Simple Trick to Set a Different Ringtone for Each Contact in Your Phonebook

Although many people have switched to WhatsApp audios, “regular” calls remain the default method of speaking to someone; Although they are “smart,” our devices are still phones after all.

But even traditional phone calls have changed. Thanks to the functions that all Android phones have, we can access a series of advantages such as Google’s spam call detection, which can save us on many occasions.

Now, Google has launched a new and perhaps more fun feature: a new way to set a custom ringtone for each of our contacts. This is something that was already possible, but now has its own dedicated section.

Custom ringtones

This is a new section in the Contacts application, which allows us to add personalized ringtones and associate them with any of the contacts that we have saved on our mobile.

To access this new section, simply open the Contacts application on our mobile and enter the “Fix and manage” section in the bottom bar. Then, in the “Other tools” section, We will find a new option, called “Contact Ringtones”.

When we enter it we can click on “Add ringtone to contact”; The list of contacts saved on the mobile will open and all we have to do is choose the one we want. Finally, the sound selector will open, which will allow us to choose between the different ringtones that we have on our mobile.

The new option is already appearing to early Android users, who have updated the Contacts app to the latest available version. As is usually the case, these updates are released gradually for all users.

It’s one of those changes that seems small, but can help us a lot if we usually change the ringtone of each contact; This allows us to easily know who is calling us, without having to pick up the cell phone or look at the screen. The new section displays all contacts with the custom ringtone; From the list we can change the ringtone, or press the Delete button so that the ringtone becomes the default of the mobile.
