We’ve been waiting for more information about The Elder Scrolls 6 for years, and in a great post celebrating the series’ 30th anniversary, Bethesda gave us a nice little update. The folks in the studio were clearly playing an early version of the game, and from the sounds of it, they were having a great time.
While the game is undoubtedly still far away from actual availability, you know, as a game that the rest of us can play, it’s great to hear news about it from Bethesda. After all, it took us about 5 years to actually get confirmation from the now-retired Pete Hines, announcing at E3 2018 that the game was actually in early development, and via the trailer it kind of felt like We all dream of this.

This latest update is a piece of good news from Bethesda to mark The Elder Scrolls’ 30th birthday, which is today March 25th, the same date as 1994’s The Elder Scrolls: Arena’s release. The studio talks about the series’ current progress and what’s ahead as time passes, and the impact it has on legions of fans and developers alike.
“Last but not least, we’re working on the next chapter – The Elder Scrolls VI,” Bethesda wrote. “Even now, returning to Tamriel and playing an early version is a thrill. We’re filled with the same joy, excitement, and commitment. Adventure.” Whoa, let’s get started. It seems to me that they were having fun developing the game and launching an early version of it, although this is obviously a bit of a corporate thing to say.

Obviously it’s too early to tell if the game will be as good as we’d hoped, or if it’ll need to follow the rather mixed reaction to Starfield, but at least its developers are thinking in the meantime, It’s great to be back in Nairn, it’s such a comforting sight. While we wait, we can still take our time replaying existing entries in the series, with Bethesda noting that it has ensured that all of these entries are easily accessible and acknowledging this at this point.” Skyrim is doing…everything.”
It also mentions The Elder Scrolls: Citadel, which is, well, a thing, as well as Skyrim’s creative plans, which were as controversial as every similar system before it when it launched last year.
But hey, forget all that for a moment, we’ve got some updates for The Elder Scrolls 6 instead of continuing the expected relative radio silence, so today is a good day.
