We still have to wait quite a long time for The Elder Scrolls 6. After all, Bethesda Game Studios released the space role-playing game Starfield just six months ago. And that should get a few more expansions before you can concentrate fully on the Skyrim successor. But its development is apparently more advanced than you might expect.
Travel through Tamriel
30 years ago, on March 25, 1994, the first Elder Scrolls was released. Back then, Arena laid the foundation for one of the most successful open world series. Bethesda is celebrating this anniversary with a simple one Twitter post, which doesn’t look like much at first glance. But at least Interesting information about Elder Scrolls 6 can be found in the text:
We are currently developing the next chapter – The Elder Scrolls 6. Returning to Tamriel and playing early versions fills us with the same joy, excitement and sense of adventure.
In fact, more or less playable versions of the next Elder Scrolls already exist, in which the developers are already allowed to let off steam. On the other hand, we’ll probably have to be content with the first teaser trailer for years to come:

What do we actually know?
It has been known for several months that Elder Scrolls 6 is already being actively developed. In August 2023, PR boss Pete Hines revealed that they were working on the new role-playing game. The studio is initially concentrating on Starfield.
Internal documents made public as part of a court case indicate a release in 2026. Xbox boss Phil Spencer, however, spoke on another occasion that we might have to wait until 2028.
There is almost no information about the scope and content of the game so far. There has already been speculation about which region Elder Scrolls 6 could be set in, but the assumptions have never been confirmed. After all, chief developer Todd Howard made an ambitious statement last year:
The release of Starfield put the development of Elder Scrolls 6 in a different light. The space role-playing game had to face some harsh criticism from fans and critics. Our author Mario tells you in his column why the developers have to reinvent themselves for their next project. And Géraldine and Micha also discuss in the podcast what Starfield means for Elder Scrolls 6.
