It’s one of Xiaomi’s best-selling phones, a true mid-range that continues to sell almost like hotcakes today: the Redmi Note 10 Pro is a marvel. Unfortunately, it has come to the end of its updates, since Xiaomi has included this model, and the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, in its EOL list, the one in which it records the models reached their end (End Of Life). The updates are complete for both of us.
Manufacturers may find themselves extending update periods beyond the usual two years. For example, Samsung will offer the latest premium models up to seven years of key Android updates, just like Google with its Pixel 8. Even Xiaomi has extended the update schedule; even if the mid-range remains far from the expected lifespan of higher mobile phones. The Redmi Note 10 Pro are an example of this.
End of updates after three years since launch
Xiaomi introduced the phones in March 2021, they are updated to MIUI 14 with Android 13 and from now on, They will no longer receive security patches. Obviously, they won’t be updated to HyperOS either, so the only way for these phones to receive updated software will be to download suitable ROMs for them.
As we can see in the list of devices that have reached the end of their life, a list that Xiaomi will update globally as it ceases to support its catalog, The new members are the aforementioned Redmi Note 10 Pro and Redmi Note 10 Pro Max.. The first is one of the bestsellers worldwide, it is still in stores and has not seen its price drop excessively. You should consider that it will no longer have updates before purchasing it.
The end of support implies the loss of updates of any type, although it is possible that Xiaomi makes some changes if the firmware suffers from a serious security error. However, they are two perfectly valid smartphones today: they will continue to access Android applications for years, they all have updated Google services and MIUI 14, the version before the current HyperOS.
If you own a Redmi Note 10 Pro, you will no longer be able to officially update it. If you want to install a ROM, you will first need to unlock the bootloader: you can find the complete process in this link. Even if for the moment we do not recommend it: the phone will remain functional for a long time. Simply, be very careful with the apps you installespecially APKs.
