The signs are increasing that (hopefully) nothing stands in the way of a release of Silent Hill 2 Remake. The American ESRB has now given the horror new edition an age rating.
Recently, supposed advertising material appeared online that further specified the supposed release period of the remake of Silent Hill 2. Accordingly, the game, which has so far been scheduled for 2024, will most likely be released towards the end of the year or during the busy autumn and Christmas business.
The latest incident that has surfaced on the Internet suggests that slowly but surely nothing will come between us on the way there. The American ESRB has now given the survival horror new edition an age rating – and this usually happens when a title is virtually complete in terms of content and the release is getting closer.
The US authorities – unsurprisingly – gave the title the “M for Mature” rating, so that the Silent Hill 2 remake may only be sold to adults if it is available. Given the nature of the game and the content, this was to be expected from the start.
The justification for the remake of the horror classic from 2001 states that all sorts of bloody scenes are to be expected. The choice of words, sexually suggestive content and the general use of violence also led to the age rating. Accordingly, the game also has realistic gunfights, all sorts of screams of pain and various splatter effects. Corpses, body parts, pools of blood and more also play a role in the reasoning.
Konami has not yet announced an official release date for the Silent Hill 2 remake of Bloober Team. We will of course keep you up to date on this!
