Warm up your neck muscles, the rhythm shooter Metal: Hellsinger is getting a virtual reality implementation. An exact date is still missing, but the porting should take place sometime in 2024.
For fans of guitar-heavy hard music, Metal: Hellsinger is something like the holy grail. Some well-known personalities from the metal scene worked on the soundtrack of the rhythm-based title:
- Randy Blythe von Lamb of God
- James Dorton von Black Crown Initiate
- Matt Heafy von Trivium
- Dennis Lyxzén from Refused and INVSN
- Tatiana Shmailyuk von Jinjer
- Mikael Stanne from Dark Tranquility
- Björn Strid von Soilwork
- Alissa White-Gluz von Arch Enemy
With the DLC Dream of the Beast, the field was also expanded to include Will Ramos from Lorna Shore and Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil. An absolute who’s who.

As Funcom has now announced, the studio is working with Lab24 on a real VR implementation of Metal: Hellsinger. There is currently no exact release date for this, it should be released on your virtual reality hardware sometime in 2024. According to the developers, Meta Quest 2,3 and Pro, PlayStation VR 2 and Steam are supported.
A first trailer shows familiar scenes from the game, only with the typical VR cut-off arms. You can probably slaughter the demons with a regular gamepad, but in that case a lot of immersion will be lost compared to Move controllers.
