A Medusa head is a powerful item in Dragon’s Dogma 2 This allows you to apply the petrification effect to almost any enemy – including dragons and griffins (like in the quest “A Case of Sculptor’s Block”). Unsurprisingly, Medusa heads come from a Medusa, so you’ll have to find one.
Our Dragon’s Dogma 2 The guide will show you Where can I find a Medusa? (and how often it will spawn). We’ll tell you too how to cut off Medusa’s head And how to get a preserved Medusa head.
Before you try to find the Medusa, switch to Thief
Before we dive into finding the Medusa, you need to do a little prep work. Cutting off Medusa’s head means that as a melee profession you have to play like a thief or fighter because, you know, you have to cut. Mages and archers just don’t do the right amount of damage here. You can kill the Medusa, but she won’t drop her head as loot – you have to actively cut it off.
And since weapons are associated with calling, Thief is definitely the best job for this for several reasons:
- The Power The buff reduces your stamina loss when grappling with an enemy
- The Powder charge And Powder jet Using your skills, you can place an explosive on Medusa’s head, stunning her
- The Good and run And Draw and quarter Weapon skills are both great for dealing large amounts of targeted damage
Technically you can do all of this as a Warfarer, but you’ll be so focused on thieves that there won’t be much of a difference.
Where to find Medusa in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Medusa was the first monster you fought in the excavation site at the start of the game. She fled from this encounter and it will take a long time to find her again.
It turned out that she was… Wyrmsblood Forest in Battalion. Out of Bakbattahlgo a little west to the Central station of the Battahl cable car (You can also take the cable car from Bakbattahl to the train station). Get on the cable car (?) that goes south and ride to the end.
From the cable car stop, follow the path north and take the first left to return to the south. A little further down you will see a bridge on the right. Cross it and follow the path further into the ravine on the other side.
At some point you’ll see statues (definitely not petrified people) along the way, and perhaps come across a beast named Torrence, who will give you some clues about what to expect.
On the right side of the path, look for a cave marked by two fallen trees in an X shape. Go inside to find it Nera’Battahl Windrift Cave
How to cut off Medusa’s head in Dragon’s Dogma 2
There’s not really a secret here – to cut off Medusa’s head, you have to attack her head with a bladed weapon. However, getting to this point can be a bit difficult.
It’s difficult to climb around on Medusa. She moves and changes positions often, so it’s mostly a matter of convincing the game that you can climb in the direction you want if you hold on to her. This is why the Vigor supplement comes in h andy.
She will also scare you off at every opportunity. A good way to get around this is to place Powder Blasts on her torso – basically as close to her head as possible without her sending you flying across the room.
If you manage to stun her and she falls, immediately focus your strong attacks on her head. And that’s it. You don’t even have to get through their health bars – their head isn’t a drop.
How to get a preserved Medusa head
In fact, the quality of the Medusa head you pick up depends on how much health she has left.
- If you cut off her head fairly quickly (e.g. within the first health bar) you’ll get one Preserved Medusa head.
- Reduce their health a little more before cutting them off and you’ll get a normal result Medusa head.
- Keep going before you decapitate them and you will get one Withered Medusa head.
Like food, the Medusa Head item decays in your inventory and eventually becomes one Decayed Medusa head – So if you don’t use it immediately, put it in your storage in an inn or a house that you own.
How often does Medusa appear in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
If you kill Medusa, she will remain dead for 14 in-game days before respawning in Nera’Battahl Windrift. Return to Bakbattahl and sleep in your house for two weeks. If you already have a head and decide to get a different one, just make sure to store it so it doesn’t rot.
